Animation and Kinetics

Here is a little animation I added to my model using a mocap which was provided to me by my tutor. I will be adding more animations for this model in the near future.

Animation and Kinetics

I have been working on the texturing of my meerkat. I created the base for my texture map by using the UVW unwrap tool in 3d studio max. To paint the texture map, I used Adobe Photoshop to colour over the base texture for my model.
I used reference photos of meerkats from www.google.co.uk to help me in my texturing.

Below are pictures of my final textured model.

Animation and Kinetics

For my animation and kinetics lesson, I was required to design a character on graph paper in the initial pose character state. Below is the image of the character from a front view and side view.

With the character completed and in proportion, I cropped the images down using Adobe Photoshop. I then went into Autodesk’s 3d max 2009 and created 2 planes for the cropped images to be placed on so I could use them as reference when creating my character. I started out with a sphere and then deleted the top section of it so I could use it to extrude up to create the torso section.
This is the method I used throughout the creation of my model.

Below are some pictures of the progression of my model.

In the next week I will be working on the UVW unwrap to texture my model. I will then be able to make progress with the rigging and animating of my model.

Utopia/Distopia Project

Earlier on this year I received a project from University which was to generate a 24 page book, which displayed the idea of Utopia/Dystopia. The outcomes could be anything from photographs to a graphic novel.

For this, I came up with the idea of finding and taking photographs of places which in my eyes were utopic and adding something to the scene which then made it dystopic.
My idea was to add graffiti to the photograph, which was going to be displayed on a range of materials. By adding these small graffiti elements to the image, it made it change from utopia to dystopia.

The grafitti stencils, which I decided to make myself, were things which we have in the world today that I think many people overlook and take for granted. This is why I decided to create these stencils, to show people what it is we have around us. It was made as an infectious advertisement campaign. There was no need for me to spell it out, the stencils were there for people to decide themselves.

At the start of the book I decided to ask the viewer a question before they saw the imagery within the book.

“Look around, tell me…. What do you see?”

The aim of this was to leave the person viewing the book thinking about whether we are living in a utopian world after all, or are there underlining dystopian facts which we try to blank out.
